Downpipes install - what else to replace?

Installing DP soon on a '13 X5 M, "while I am in there" what else should I replace preventively?

I would refer you to my thread, you'll need to replace gaskets at the turbo/vband, and ot the bottom. Also the copper nuts. It has the part numbers etc.

I suggest getting rid of the stock heat shields and getting a turbo blanket and wrapping your downpipes. I went with a ptp and am able to put my hand on top of the turbos after driving it. Huge change in underhood temps.

If you mean while you have stuff out, what to replace, you shouldn't have to replace anything. You'll have much easier access to everything with the heat shields off of the turbo, exhaust and if you have custom or RK intakes, you have access to most everything in case something comes up. There won't be as much underhood heat so that should help with things going bad as well.

Thanks friend!

I forgot to mention that I did buy some PTP lava blankets too!

Yes on the blankets. 1000%.

I prefer over regular wraps for pipes, just get the pipes sent out to be ceramic coated. Your local powdercoater often offers a similar service, or you send it out to JetHot or similar.

All new gaskets, fire ring, vband, etc..

Would installing downpipes on my X5M void any warranty at all? I haven't done much on mine, cause of the warranty.

With the dp out of the way, definitely check if the vacuum pump is leaking. If so, replace the gasket or the whole unit.

I didn't answer this because I don't know the answer to it, sorry. I haven't had any issues having the dealer work on my car, but I haven't had anything done under warranty.

Search the part number, you'll see that others have used the cheaper part number version with no issues.
