Clunking Sound when turning the Steering Wheel?

Hello,

I have a 2013 X5. It has about 50K miles on it. When I pull out of the garage and turn the wheel, there is a small clunking sound that it makes. Has anyone come across this? I don't hear it when I am driving.

its probably a bushing that has worn out on in the suspension. Went out on mine, pretty cheap repair $170 cucks or something at an indy.

are you serious? how does a rubber bushing make a clunking sound.?

OP, have your lower control arms inspected. clunking sounds at low speeds is usually a sign of worn ball-joints (which are part of your control arms)

not an expensive replacement, car will drive better after you replace them.

When a bushing worn out there is a chance metal will starting to hit metal... thats where the clunking sound came from

Oh okay, that makes sense. but I doubt a bushing could be this worn out by 50k miles unless you molest your car. usually clunking sounds at low speed = ball-joint wear

I have the same thing when I go to park reverse and almost full lock turn... Still can't find time to fix it.
