Strange revving at startup?

I've had this 2012 CPO x5 35 for about a week now and it's done this weird startup twice now.

Start the car, foot is off the pedal, and it revs from about 800 rpms to 13-1400 rpms. It goes back and forth for about 10-15 seconds.

I know I just need to take it in but I figured I'd ask the board first before I take it in and they tell me they can't duplicate.

Almost sounds like a vacuum leak or something along those lines, rpm bounces around until it get warmed up.

Hmmmm, thanks for the reply but why would that cause the rpm to bounce? Is that something BMW can pull from a history report or will they need to duplicate it?

Is that a common issue on these cars?

No, are you experiencing the same thing? I'm waiting to take it in for the next scheduled maintenance which is another 1000 miles.

Anyone here got this fixed?

My 2013 X5 50i is doing the same thing sometimes when cold, rpm bounce a few times between ~500 to ~1k, then sometimes it recovers, but most of the time the X5 dies and goes back to normal idle rpm after restart.

For folks who got that fixed, can you confirm it was the Idle Control Valve (ICV)? Or was it something else?

I took my car in for service for this about 1-2 months ago.

It wasn't just cold days. warm days, and very periodic. maybe once a week, maybe twice a week, but that is with multiple starts through the day, car used almost 7days a week.

The end result. "It's normal."
