I just got a TEXT message read to me by the 2010 X6M

This has never happened before. Normally I would get a ping, like the car was confused that I was getting a phone call. But this time, it told me I had got a TEXT message, then proceeded to read it back to me, and then it asked me if I wanted to call the number? This is a nice upgrade, that they must have downloaded to the car somehow.

I am impressed with BMW for doing this.

What phone you have?

R u sure it was the car and not that the phone upgraded its software?

I have a Windows 7 phone. It is the Samsung Focus. I am connecting through blue tooth.

This sounds like the car has been changed, because I would get TEXT messages before, that would just mute the radio, then not do anything else. Now it says I have a text from "the persons name" do I want to hear it, say yes. Then after the text has been read it says, "now you can say you are done, or say call the person".

Is this only on the newer 2010 cars with hard drive navigation? If i get a text on my 2009 it doesn't even recognise that fact?

If I remember right this was a September 2010 upgrade to the ConnectDrive and it's not retrofitable (can't think of a reason why but I think I read that somewhere) ..
