2011 X6 35i EPA mileage 17/25 vs 16/23

Just picked up my 35i and the mileage estimate on the window sticker is 16/23. I know that another car I saw at a dealer had a rating of 17/25 and it's listed as 17/25 on the EPA website. Anyone know why it would be different?

The new 8-speed transmission in the 11's bumped up the fuel economy, not sure why yours would be less.

The only thing I can think of that was noticeably different between my car and the one I saw on the lot was that mine has the sports package. The other one did have the Sports Activity pkg though. Both cars had 20" wheels. I can't imagine that the adaptive drive would cause a 2mpg drop, but I can't think of anything else that would possibly affect mileage.

Our X6 3.5 has maybe 1750 miles on it, and I'd say we are getting around 15mpg. Kinda disappointed.

If you have an '11 X35i, what did your EPA window sticker say for mileage? 16/23 or 17/25? and do you have the Sports pkg?

Well, I'm really confused then. Is it possible that the EPA modified their mileage estimate? I really can't think of any other logical reason. My build date was Sept. 2.

My complete option list is:

X6 35i
Premium package
Sports package
20" style 214 wheels
Premium sound package
Technology package
Side view cameras
Head-up display
Cold weather package
Running boards

I have every option except full leather dash, running boards, and rear seat entertainment. Mileage around town is a horrific 12-13. The drive to montreal is pretty much a strait 5.5 hour shot with the cruse locked on 80.

For what it's worth, I have an 09 35i. I'm getting 14.7 mpg around town, some aggressive driving, and 24 mpg on an expressway if I keep it below 70 mph. As soon as I go above 75 mph it drops to 21 mpg.

Looks like the EPA officially changed the numbers down for the 3.5i engine.

Wow, you're right...the EPA's website has been updated to show 16/23. It was showing 17/25 a few days ago.

This really sucks... One of the main selling points of the '11 for me (when comparing to the '10 x6, fx35, and Cayenne which I wad cross-shopping) was the increased fuel economy. I wonder what happened behind the scenes to cause the change??

It looks the x5 35i was downgraded as well.
