Video in Motion as Promised

As my forum handle is the Modding Master I must make good on my moniker:

Therefore I now present Video in Motion for the X6:

http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=2320

I was told this will work fine for any 2009 and above X6 and I ordered one to be delivered next week.

Check out this thread, on the first page about half way down there is an install on an M3.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=eas

Also here is a youtube video install:

I already looked at the dash removal on the X6 and it is simple just like the video only a few different snap in panels, etc, wiring will be the same (easy).

True thanks goes to my new forum guru on the E90 forum aka Technic on the 3-series forum, he is the man, he recommended this module, I am just the most persistant lurker around.

I'll post again after the install.

There are also other modules available to add additional A/V inputs, cameras, etc, and still have Video in Motion, but my basic needs are just for the DVD to work in motion.

You can check this out for extra capabilities:

Either of these solutions (they use the exact same module):

http://alekshop.com/home
http://www.modmynav.com/

Contact them directly to ask if they are compatible with the X6, they should as it shows 2010 & new idrive compatible, and older versions too.

The irony is there is a setting in the iDrive maintenance menu to enable/disable the video while in motion.

The module for video in motion seems like a like of hoopla to simply set a bit (short a wire) so the car thinks it is in park.

Also, when you go to the dealer for an iDrive update or miantenance, this module may throw an error. So beware you may have to remove the module whenever you go in for service or risk voiding warranty.

Also, EAS is wrong on some points. The most glaring is pre-2009 (older iDrive) cannot play DVD's. This is wrong. Many models can.

The module is completely invisible, we have a BMW computer in-house in which was used during development.

As far as earlier CCC iDrive models go: they cannot play DVD movies, only newer CiC models have this capability.

We are using the autologic system (BMW equivalent), this is updated at least weekly. We are continuously testing as products are offered in order to verify everything is 100% before shipping to the public.

The module is dormant when in parked mode, I doubt any technician is datalogging while the vehicle is in motion. As a backup precaution - there is a workshop mode in which the module can be completely disabled by a simple macro command using the blinker stalk.

I'll soon have mine installed and and post the review, I don't see any issues ever with the module especially when diabled as far as service goes.

With the holidays here my tracking number puts my delivery now at jan 1, 2010 so it will go in same day most likely.

Are you offering any kind of protection with the Video in Motion purchase against warranty voids by BMW? If caught with it by the dealer, will you pickup the portion of the warranty that BMW would void?

Wrong! I have a 2008 (may build X6 with CCC) and I can play DVD's.

Many 5/6 series with CCC can play DVD's starting around 2007/8.

Jeez, everybody just chill out, most mods you do that are not OEM are your own deal, add at your risk. The module works, and Idrive is not Big Brother. ECM flashes etc are way more risky and evasive than a simple VIM module. If you are that paranoid about this then step aside and don't do it.

There may be something limited to a couple of models we're not aware of yet. Bring your X6 by when you're in the area, I'd like to take a look at it.
