Give me your feedback on x6 xdrive50i

Hey guys, drove an x6 xdrive50i today, LOVED it, but whats it like owning one? Horrid gas mileage? any problems I should be aware of? I currently drive a e93 so just looking around for something for winter driving (Chicago). Let me know any thoughts/advice would be great! Thanks

It is going to be a very different ride for you. My day to day drive (in the western burbs) is mostly 0-30-0. I get about 12mpg when doing that. Throw some highway in and it jumps dramatically (my last trip to Indy was 21.5mpg).

The car is very comfortable (especially compared to a e9x with runflats. I got the 19s (due to the potholes here) and I laugh every time I hit a major one. Of course the 19s are not the prettiest looking wheel out there (the new 2013s are nicer IMHO). There is also a slight lag when accelerating (you take off either like a turtle or it GOES) and the car has brake energy regen to help charge the alternator so it will sort of drag to a stop - especially when it is cold out and/or you first start the car (I hate this!). In short, it does not have that "connection" that you have with your 3-series but it is far more comfortable, and it MOVES.

Thanks for the advice, its really an awesome car, just the power it packs for the size is amazing. I love my e93 but if the winter is bad i may trade it in and if i cant wait for the next gen (3 or 4) series convertible x drive im gonna get an x6.

I had both 35 and 50. They are both both great in Chicago winter even with 20in performance tires

My BF has the e93 (335i convertible) and it's one sweet ride with decent mpg. The suspension is really firm so we feel all the bumps, and the road noise is loud.

I believe 50i with performance package is faster (0 to 60 in 5.1) but the mpg is horrible. I can see my gas needle drop every time I gun it. I am taking speed bumps faster and potholes/cracks are hardly felt with adaptive drive. Ride is a lot quieter and inside is posher.

YOLO, get it!

9.7 MPG. Terrible. Car is powerful.... sounds tough. I was talking to a guy I met on the street who is driving X6 35i. He claimed the 6 cylinder 35 is faster than a 50i-- How is that possible?

It doesn't really matter.. I only accelerate on the rare occasion that my wife is not in the car. People are as impressed with the Vert as they are with the 50i. M3 convertible is excellent-- toss up to me between that and the X6 50i.

Agree Doug.. The 50i base rims are good looking on the 2013. Not the best offered, but I like em. I have a 2008 328 Vert, feels much more nimble than the X6. I also like the tightness of the handling when compared to Active Steering of the X6 (which I really like).
Love how I don't have to get nervous about potholes in the X6 when compare to 328 with sports package. Not sure if that is a concern in Chi-town

We have potholes that eat cars here.

Mostly in the spring however.

I just got one 3 days ago (2011 car) and fuel economy is terrible (i was in a Golf GTI before!)

On the freeway it's actually very respectable, but around town.....

I am in that phase where you get to the speed limit very quickly (hehe) but I am SO happy with this car. I'd say, just do it. Own a car like this once in your life.
