F15 sunvisor in E70

Has any one tried fitting the F15 sunvisor into E70?

I noticed the F15 sunvisor extends out (adjustable) which would be perfect for my use.

That would be awesome! I can't stand how small the E70 visor is and how it doesn't extend to block out the sun!

You can slide the E70 sun visor to block the sun, give it a good pull and it slides a good 6".

I didn't know either until one day I looked over at my wife and she had it on the side window and extended out...I am not a fan of her out smarting with anything vehicle related the first time I pulled mine out it took a bit of a tug but not enough to worry about breaking anything.

I just tried it and you speak of lies kind sir! The visor is on there like super glue! I would probably break it if I kept trying...

Same here. Mine was stuck good and I gave it a really hard pull multiple times. Wouldn't budge one bit. I wonder if our Canadian friends up North got a different visor?

Can an European E70 owner check if your visor extends out or not?

I was driving my wife's diesel and the sun was beating in on me and I had to give it a good pull to get it to slide out...I will take a picture tomorrow. The rod that the visor is attached to the roof is what the visor slides out on

I think I remember sliding my visor out a time or two as well. I'll double-check tomorrow.

I have a 2009 X6 and it has sliding visors but my friend's 2012 X5 does not; they are the exact same visor otherwise. IMO this doesn't seem to be the most efficient manufacturing process to make 2 nearly identical parts function differently especially since there can't be addition cost to move it slide vs. not.

BMW is famous for changing parts that are identical all the time yet function differently and cost us more money.

Intrigued, I checked the sunvisors on our two X5's. On the 2010, the sunvisor does slide back and forth. On the 2012, no movement. So maybe the change was with LCI on 2011+?

Sylvan, what year are your X5's?

Well that sucks

I check realoem and there are 2 different part numbers. One that slides and one that does not.

I'm going to try and find a place to order the sliding one at a reasonable price.

FYI the part number for one that slides in Schwarz Left (driver side) is: 51168037385. ##386 is the right (passenger side) Also from looking at realoem, our Canadian friends up north did get this version of the sunvisor.

Further checking on realoem does confirm what everyone has already stated. The change to non-sliding visor was implemented with the LCI.

So far looks like turner motorsport is the cheapest for both sides with shipping. "Fingers crossed"

some additional info

I pulled it quite hard on my 2013 and it came off , but it was pretty easy to re-attach as it it just plugged in there. So if BMW sells only the extendable arm, it could be easily replaced but at realoem it looks like it's sold as a single piece!

Lol! That's what probably would have happened to me if I kept pulling! What was the part number if you have it by chance?
