I thought Conti's were a little too soft a rubber for a SUV?
I think the treadwear rating is around 540 or somewhere in that range, without looking at my sidewalls. That's a pretty solid number as I'm hoping they'll last longer than the Dunlops.

I got 68,000klm out of my 20" Dunlops, what I have found is the bigger the wheel the more klm (or miles) you get.

My new M50d has 20" but Bridgestone this time, actually all the E70's I have had have had Dunlops. The last time I had Bridgestones was on a E53, they where 19", I got about 63,000klm on them then changed to Michies.

I've heard that using the spare tire in a can will ruin TPMS. Is this true?

anything on snow performance on the Conti DWS? Contemplating this tire too...no space for storing winter ( did before at old house), but still needs some snow traction here in NYC when it does snow...

No experience with an SAV with these tires but I do with a light 4dr car. They're amazing tires for all sorts of weather from sun to deep packed snow.

I have had the DWS for awhile. Great tire. Rides so much better the the RF.

Granted our winter was nothing last year. But I switched because i was in a winter setup deliema. I was thinking of buying the dealer package, but hate having two sets of wheel/tires.

so the DWS seemed like a perfect choice. too bad we had NO snow all last winter!!!
The one freak storm we had was in Oct and I drove through 2 foot drifts with the RF nd had NO ISSUES. But I did loose my tow hook cover.LOL
The DWS were on the way so I switched them.
as far as the DWS:
I have taken off road and they are fine. They ride softer then the RF. It should be slightly faster due to less rotational mass compared to RF. and they seem to last forever??? I drive hard and they show like no wear. The RF wear fast. and they are very cheap compared to RF. I had mine done for 1000 total, mounted and balanced filled with nitrogen at my buddys shop.

the toyos i got are alot nicer than the rfts. Feels a bit faster too off the line. softer over bumps and road imperfections. only negative is they look a tad skinnier than the rfts dunlops and corner handling is a bit soft. Hope this helps.. heard that the toyos will be on back order soon!

I had them installed last winter.

I was going that route for a few reasons.
Lighter rotating mass
softer ride
all season performance(hopefully not have to swap wheels/tires for winter)

They ride great. i think then do not handle as well. but with EDC on they are the same
They might last forever. No noticable wear and its been almost a year
I never have a chance to test them in snow.

We had a freak nowstorn in October last year and the factory RF were fine in the snow!! But on another board they all kepyt saying i should change. i had the DWS installed and guess what?? NO SNOW for the rest of the season!!! So I am hoping for a blizzard to see how these work.

they are great in rain. for under 1000 installed with nitrogen and road force balance, i cannot complain!

Okay...I'm about to pull the trigger on the DWS.
I'm still a little nervous they won't look as fat in the rear as my 315 Dunlops, but I'm tired of comparing the very few options and I just sold my "winter setup."

Those that have the 20" Contis, you are still happy with them, right?
Thanks

The question should be how do you still like them DDP? You were the OP to this thread from back in June.

Seems like Continental DWS can only be purchased from TireRack. How's warranty handled with TireRack? I am reading about lots of vibration issues with ContiDWS. If stores don't carry them, could be a problem waiting for days for replacement from TireRack..
I got my Continental ExtremeContact DWS from Discount Tire Direct, it's cheaper than Tire Rack (DTD includes shipping cost in their price, no surprises at checkout). They do offer tire coverage for an additional charge.
