LCI X5 headlight leveling issue

I have a 2011 X5 and am having trouble with the drivers side headlight level. So when I first got the car I noticed the drivers side was too high. So i used the screws and lowered it to the same height as the passenger side. I also noticed that when I start the car the passengers side will auto level but the drivers side will not. After a few days the drivers side shoots up again. I readjust it again and it shoots straight to the floor. Im not getting any errors either and it doesn't seem to be the rod that connects to the headlight adjuster because it will go up and down manually by the screw adjustment. Any ideas on what this could be?

Ive read the motor or the arm will break. This here is the repair kit I believe, I think you cut a section from the back of the headlight, install the new motor/arm, then cover the hole with the included cover.

Mine doesn't work, but Ive adjusted manually like you, and mine has stayed put for well over a year now.

I've adjusted them several times and they keep either going up after a few days or aiming straight towards the ground. They never stay where I keep them adjusted. They'll only stay for a day or two then they'll go out of alignment
