Door Locking/Unlocking Not Working

Hi folks. Happy New Year. I searched a while to find this exact problem, but couldn’t find a solution. My father’s ‘08 X5 is having lock/unlocking issues. Both the key fob and central lock button inside stopped working for a couple of days. The fuses are fine and no DTCs were found. The next day, everything worked as normal. Is this possibly a sign of failing door actuator(s)? Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks in advance.

Would have to be the module if failing...all the actuators wouldn’t fail at once. Might be a loose connection somewhere. How old is the fob battery?

Thanks for the response. Unsure how old the fob battery is, but isn’t it rechargeable? It’s likely not the issue since the central locking button inside was also not working. Which module do you think may be failing?

I swapped from M Sport to X5M steering wheel and everything worked perfectly, same as most people who've done this swap. Obviously the only things that don't sync up are the 2 buttons (///M button and the music button below it) and what they control, but everything still works.https://www.carcoverworld.com/car-covers

There was a steering wheel swap thread below this one for a bit yesterday.
Presumably "user error" when they were attempting to reply to that.
