Should I lowered my X5 or not?

Hi guys,

I just ordered my spacers kit, but the question is:

Should I drop my X5 or not?

I love the look without drop, but sometime I would like to drop it.

Your opinion please? Thank you!

If I lived In a state where there's no snow & great roads like Florida, I would rock nice 21's and maybe a small drop.. Goodluck

I was thinking of it and still have the springs in my wish list.

However like you said, most days I like the massive optic of the X5.
Mine is still high and I think I'll keep it this way.

I really don't see the point in lowering any big 4x4. If I wanted a low car I would've bought a saloon and I personally don't like the look of it, looks fine as it is and looks aggressive without the drop IMO

If you do want to, go with adjustable coil overs so you can raise it in the winter. Lowered E70's with the right wheel/tire combo look killer

I lowered my x5 and I love it, I also have Vossen VFS-2 22's and I think it looks sharp. When lowered, it makes the ride a little more harsh, but the car feels much more responsive.

This isn't really a viable solution, nor really practiced much in the real world. After each height change, you need an alignment. Your toe changes each time the height changes, and toe is what kills tires, not camber. This becomes expensive and a time suck over time. I've seen guys maybe do it once, and then just get lazy and never do it again.

Besides, if you follow the recommended lowering guidelines for the KW's, the ride height is not now a snow plow. It's fine for most weather conditions, even Michigan. If you lower responsibly, you should never have to raise/lower for the seasons.

1.2 inch H&R drop all around, and I'm installing spacers soon, and waiting on a front lip to be made

Nice.... I had some Stance wheels on my F30 that looked just like these. Was wondering what they looked like on a lowered E70. Mine is not M Sport and the color is Bronze so I dont think they would look as good as this. Are you running the 12" wide wheel in the back?

Looks good. Be interested to see what front lip you come up with, I've been on the prowl for something too but can't seem to find anything for the M Sport OEM bumper.

I am also considering both spacers and lowering with springs on my X5. I live close to London so the bloody speed humps could be a slight issue in terms of ride quality but I love the aesthetics of a "sensibly" lowered 4x4. I am currently running BMW 21" alloys but have no idea what size spacer/s I should go for? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Then the next question will be which make of springs - H&R or Eibach?

I decided to order 15mm front and 25mm rear spacers. Ive also ordered my H&R springs. Hopefully have them all fitted next week.

If you drop... avoid the H&R springs.
I've had both on my e70x5d and the Eibachs are more comfortable and more compliant over rough surfaces.

As a matter of fact, if you keep the stiff Run Flats... the Eibachs will make the ride more comfortable then the OE springs.
