Finally got my X5!
Was on the forums in the past with some of my previous BMWs. I had always had my eye on a X5, we had a 2011 X3 on lease that just finished, ended up purchasing it and using it as a trade-in (the lease buyout price just worked out that way). Found the perfect X5 for us:
2012 X drive 35i Carbon Black, Oyster Nevada leather, Comfort Access, Cold Weather, M sport package, 3rd Row Seat & rear sun shades (kids), CPO'ed I absolutely _love_ this car, it is a joy to drive and looks amazing. It just might be my favorite out of the group I have had. My only gripe so far is that it is definitely thirsty for gas (don't have any numbers yet) and a little high on the milage ~47,000. Can you fine members give me any pointers, things I need to watch out for with this one? I would love to be able to drive it into the 100k mile range. Still up in the air/researching extending the warranty.

Two things...
1. You can get a Cobb Accessport for more HP, and a bit better MPG. 2. You can get a 7yr/100k warranty from BMW, before you hit 50k. Both of the above I've done. I think I got my car at around 48k-49k miles. |

She's a beauty, and nicely optioned also!
Do not worry about "high" miles. I would not call 47K high miles. You'll get to enjoy some factory warranty, and then you go into CPO warranty. Just make sure that EVERY little thing is addressed right before the factory warranty expires. I was able to get $6K of work done that way, before I went into CPO. Just build up a good relationship with your SA and it'll be worth it. |

- You had a X3 lease - You bought out the lease (at the pre-agreed residual, I presume) - Now you own the X3 - Then you turn around and trade the X3 you just purchased towards the X5, correct? Why did you do it this way? Did you save on sales tax? But didn't you have to pay sales tax on the X3 purchase? Why not just use the money you just spent on buying the X3 as a down payment towards the X5? I'm interested because I wonder if your method would work if you brought a buyer for the X3 and asked the dealer to do a trade assist purchase ...

yes, the sales tax ate away at my end of the deal a bit, but I also got away with some minor damage and needing to put new tires on the X3 which I would have had to do if I turned it in. They gave me a bit of a hard time on the trade in, but between what they took for the X3 and the discount on the X5 I think I did OK. I could have done even better just selling the X3 on my own, but the logistics there - being without a family car for a bit would have made that really difficult. I don't have any experience with the trade assist purchase, but I think that would have worked as well.

Less than 55k. My wife drives mostly within the city. There was only a few hundred miles left before 50k when we signed the warranty paperwork for the gold 7/100k package.

ANYONE know a site where I can find a detailed list of BMW Coverage after factory is done
My coverage is done at the end of the month & CPO takes over. I want to buy extended.. Pls help Can't find any prices, or it depends on the S/A & what type of deal he wants to give? Last edited by Bklynjoker; 12-02-2014 at 08:28 PM.. |

Any information you can share about the extended warranty. I'm thinking to get something like this for my car if I decide to keep the car. Thank you. |

The only problem you might have if it is a pre 2014 CPO. In that case your NAV and electronics are not covered ... Jan 01, 2014 CPO's forward cover this. See attached BMW Extended Warranty Pricing (aka ESC or EVP). MP is Maintenance Plan. These prices are MSRP. Many members report being able to get anywhere from 10% to 30% discount from MSRP. You can shop at any franchised BMW dealer in the country. Ask for the finance manager.

Thanks for that list. 1last question
Now I walk out with a ZERO cost, once CPO takes over things change right? No more zero cost for any problem. Does Platiunm come with free Maintainence or I have to buy that one top of new coverage |

Thanks for the info on the CPO, I thought I was OK for the most part with the CPO, but after some digging on the forums here I came across this 'CPO Wrap' thing, which made me look closer into my CPO coverage.
http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...contracts.aspx The CPO wrap coverages are in the second brochure, does anyone have any experience with any of these?
