Strong gas smell around car at all times

Has anyone else had this? For the past month or so there has been a very noticeable gas smell around the car. There are no obvious leaks and when the car is parked it doesn't leave anything on the ground. No noticeable drop in fuel consumption either.

The CEL is on but I live 200 miles from the dealer so haven't had a chance to get it checked yet. It had a major service about 4 months ago and the CEL came on about 3 weeks ago.

I do have the proper ODB cable but I'm not sure how to use it to read codes...

leaking fuel injectors? I believe the X5Ms had the fuel injectors recalled. Have you done yours?

Get a bluetooth OBD dongle and scan it with your phone. 10 buck investment on amazon. Youre lucky you have the CEL theres bound to be a code.

Thanks for the replies. The injectors have all been replaced and are the latest version. I even tried to have them done again once the recall was announced but Schomp checked the versions and refused!

I will grab one of the ODB readers. Thanks...

I had the similar issue and took it in for service. They replaced the o2 sensor and no ore raw gas smell.
