That's a good guess, though I think that no one really knows and it's hard to predict. There's another thread on this topic a few down from here. The answer there that made the most sense to me is that the black panel dash will be available once the X6 is redone as an F-code model. Why? I don't know, but it seems like the dash panel is a bigger engineering deal that might need to be looped in to a redesign, and also there's the point that only F-code models (new 5 series, new 6 series, and new X3) have it. But the new iDrive was done at the beginning of the 2010 production year, just after my 2009 X6 50i was made. So in the end it's all speculation, and a little hope that the 2012 I just ordered either has it or won't be obsolete by a midyear refresh!
