Fumoto Valve install
Having the Fumoto valve on my other cars i thought i would install it on the X5. Sure does make changing the oil much easier. Unlock the lever and that's it. Just thought i would share.

The lever was in the down position as the oil was being drained. When done the spring loaded lever goes up and over a notch. I thought the same thing when installing them on the lowered M3 and Mini, luckily i have never had a problem.

Good question. My cpo did not have a plastic cover and did not know there was supposed to be one. I will have to check on that. With this valve the cover cannot be used since it protrudes down about a 1/2 inch.

Cover or not, I'm sure you can still use the valve and make it all work together...

To me it looks like a perfect way to get hit by debris, lose oil and damage the pan. Nice device, but probably not for this vehicle. Draining the oil on X5 is one of cleanest and easiest I have seen around. Don't fix what's not broken.
