CCC to CIC idrive controller - Help!
Just bought a CIC idrive controller, mount and trim from a 2010 model E70 (UK) to upgrade my CCC idrive controller in my 2009 model as I was told it was just plug and play from a local BMW specialist.
Alas It lights up fine but wont control anything. Can anyone steer me in the right direction as what I need to do? I have read around on forums about getting the controller coded or something about swapping the wires around in the connector. All software has been recently updated to to the latest version for all modules as well by BMW Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

I had 2008 M3 with CCC and upgraded to CIC iDrive knob before.
It was plug and play and worked flawlessly right away... You may wanna go check out (and ask) on E90Post side since they've done a lot more of this type of mod than X-side. Good luck.

It is not plug and play, you need to change a line in the cappl module so the car knows it has a new controller.

Mine was really plug and play. I bought the trim and knob. That's all I replaced.

Hi Blue dragon,
I was hoping you may be able to assist as you seem to be one of the guru's on here. Do you know exactly what in the Cappl module I need to re-code? I read somewhere about change the date of the Idrive and also about changing a line entry somewhere I have just bought my K+DCAN lead which arrived friday and am about to build a x86 laptop or a VM so I can use it (providing the . I am fairly IT savvy, so I am hoping I can work it out. I have been reading through the forums but haven't been able to find anything specific to the E70. The part number I have is 9240956 if that helps. Any assistance would be gratefully received Fingers crossed |

QQ: I have a 09 & interested in performing the same upgrade, but I read on another forum that once the upgrade to the CiC idrive knob is made that you will lose the rear camera function. Is there any truth to that?
Thanks in advance. |

In reality its all about having the most updated coding on your vehicle for the E9X M3 platform.
2007-2008 E9X M3s CCC can be swapped out for a direct plug and play with the CIC setup WITH up to date coding and its pretty cheap. I was against it for the past 12 months but then when I found out it costs as much as 8 of my HK AR15 magazines I bought one. LOL

So he flashed his CAPPL module with 3 series software How about just updating to a later daten version that actually had support for the new controller and just changing the line in the CAPPL.
If your daten version in your CAPPL is too old, obviously its not going to work.

I thought it was a bit "off" myself. That's why I asked here after reading that awhile back. I thought I'd just install the new iDrive code it to my CCC until I completely gathered all the components for my CIC Retrofit. Which I'm ready to do now
