Any BMW employees here?
Hi everyone.
I just purchased a 2011 x5 50i and need some service done to it. The dealer that sold me the car said that the car is a CPO . I was wondering if any one here works for BMW in the NY area that could help me put that warranty under my name or at least have me service it at the dealer without putting it under my name . Am willing to throw a tip for that favor . Thank you.

You should be OK. If it was truly a CPO (and you should have verified this with an actual BMW dealership, which you can do by just calling them) then the CPO will stick with the vehicle. You don't need to transfer it.

So you guys think I could just go to the dealer without having to transfer anything?

I don't think CPO is transferable through non BMW dealers. If sold by a BMW dealer you should just be able to show up at a dealer and get work done, then they can put your info in so you will get recall notices/etc. If it wasn't sold by a BMW dealer I would call a dealer and ask for warranty status on it and see what they say, and then go back to who sold it and straighten things out...
"For Certified Pre-Owned vehicles retailed on or after January 1, 2014, the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Protection Plan and the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Elite Protection Plan are not transferable except within the BMW authorized dealer network or subject to the following condition: Private to private consumer transaction" Being a 2011 it might have been CPO'd before 2014... Best of luck Matt |
