Anyone change out their body side molding on E70?

Was thinking of replacing the black side molding with painted, as I think it looks better.
I saw this post and was wondering if the E70 is removed/installed the same way?

Isn't that a 50i in the photo?

Regardless, check this: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do

Put in the model and prod month (not that it matters for this part), trim is under 51 vehicle trim, front door and rear door. You're in luck as it seems there is a primed version ready for paint for the same cost as the standard black one.

Not advertising for them, but Tischer has sent me all my parts for much less than the local dealers, and that's even after shipping. Hope that helps.

I was thinking of replacing these also as the previous owner used some weird wax or something that doesn't seem to cover with typical plastic black products. Any pictures of an e70 with them painted might look okay.

I took mine off last week and vinyl wrapped them to match the body color of my car. Very easy except replacing the double sided tape took a lot of time.

I want to replace the passenger side door molding as someone opened their car door into it and left a huge gash in it. How did you take it off and how difficult of a project is this?

I never ended up doing it, but basicly start from the center of the car and work towards the other side.

I am trying to remove the molding. I was wondering if there is any holes in the door if I remove the molding? Is it just double sided tape holding it on?

Strange, I thought it was a little the other way around as the moment, I have been a member of both for many years, I do find from season to season that some of the threads get a little unfriendly if you could put it that way.

Not sure if that's due to the economic climate or as time goes on life in general is getting harder, but on the whole we all seem a friendly lot.

I have looked all over the internet for literally hours and can not find a picture of one without the black moldings. I thought I had found one a few weeks ago and no cannot find it again. Does anybody have pics of one without them? I am leaning pretty strong towards removing the badges and the black strips off of my X5.

I was thinking about doing this either this or next week. I actually went to a paint shop yesterday to talk prices.

On another note, has anyone painted their textured black pieces and if so, how have they held up? One thing I thought of was spraying them, then clear bra wrapping them.

The textured pieces will have to sanded down so that the paint will adhere to it, but there are some that have done it on here with great results.
