M Sport Question

I picked up a space grey 2011 X5 50i M Sport about 6 weeks ago. The vehicle only had 17K miles on it, was a CPO, loaded out, and rarely driven so I had to jump on it. Drove 8.5 hours there and back in one day to pick it up.

I noticed when I purchased it that the original window sticker says M Sport Package $6500. When I looked at all of the 2013's on the dealer lots they said M Sport Package $4700. They also did not have the "Sport" button that I have by my shifter. What's the difference between the package on mine and the newer ones?

The only thing I could figure out was the dealers that had the $4700 package only contained the cosmetic upgrades.

The sticker on mine was $82,375 which seemed higher than the 2013's I looked at.

Wow!!! $82,375 sticker seems more like the price for the actual X5M...the sticker on my 2011 X5 xDrive50i M Sport was only $75,225.00 and that included the $6500 for the M Sport option.

Yeah I'm not sure. It's loaded with a lot of stuff so maybe that was it. I have a PDF of the sticker. Was really just trying to figure out why the M Sport option is cheaper now and what the difference is.

According to autos.aol.com there is no difference in what was provided in the M Sport package.. It just cost more in 2011.

The Sport button controls your adaptive suspension and that is it. No transmission or engine mods.

That's what I figured. I knew about the Sport button. Just couldn't figure out why some M Sports had it and others did not.

my 2011 also stickered-out at over $80k too. Looks like it was pretty easy to do if you liked the options.

Yours has Adaptive Drive, a very desirable feature. But to be real sure of all the options that came with the car, shoot me the last 7 of the VIN and I'll provide you with an all inclusive and comprehensive list of what's on your car ...

He did say he got a copy of his sticker. But I also wonder as to why some M Sports had a Sport button and other didn't.

Adaptive drive is a standalone option. It is not part of the M Sport package.

Did some research. I have a 2011 X5 M Sport 35i. It looks like the M Sport Package (ZMP) comes with:

2NY 20" Light Alloy Double Spoke (Style 333M) with performance tires
2VA Adaptive Drive
3MA BMW individual roof rails aluminium
508 Park Distance Control
710 M steering wheel
7M5 M exterior parts in body color
Price: $4,800

Now let's have a look at the 2013 X5 M Sport 50i:
220 Self-leveling suspension
2M5 19" M Wheels
3MA BMW individual roof rails aluminum
481 Sport seats
760 Shadowline exterior trim
775 Anthracite headliner
7M5 M exterior parts in body color
7XA M Sport leather steering wheel w/ paddle shifters
840 Increased top speed limiter
Price: $4,700

The biggest thing missing between 2011 and 2013 (not sure about 2012) is the 2VA option. On the 2013 model that is a stand alone option at a price of $3,500!

You and I were typing at the same time Turns out in 2011, the M Sport package did in fact include 2VA which is Adaptive Drive. Which explains why I have the "Sport" button on mine.

That's why the price must've been higher back then for the M sport package. Now it's all starting to make sense. Yes, I have the option/build sheet as well and it shows the adaptive drive was included with the M Sport package back then.

I was completely misinformed on what the Adaptive Drive did and how it related to the Sport button by my shifter. Guess I'll be driving around some twisties today to test it out!

FWIW, I think the 333M were an additional option on top of the ZMP option. It was an additional $1k per my build sheet.

For the 50i, it was indeed an option in the ZMP package. They were included for the 35i.

It is absolutely backwards. You would think the "nicer" wheels would be part of the more expensive car, but nope, not to some folks at BMW apparently...

Check out this site...you can price out a 2011 with all options and packages. It shows what's available, and what's included with what package. Pretty slick actually.
