New Mirrors
FYI, I got my two exterior mirrors replaced yesterday. The shop order stated the issue was the e-coating was missing, whatever that means.
The mirrors could not be cleaned and had a haze around the edges. It was not that bad but thought I would get it taken care of. I would check your mirrors and make sure they can be cleaned well. Any haze will get worse over time.

Right could not be cleaned. Certain areas around the edges were fogged.

Mirror coating
Does anyone notice that both outside rearview mirror surfaces have a yellowish(?) coating, except for the 1/8" around the perimeter that is all clear?

That is the automatic dimming feature on the mirrors.... should be the same color as the interior rear-view mirror (although I seem to recall mine are more blue-ish than yellow-ish)!
Cheers, Anteater Update: You are right - yellow-ish when you look at them in the daylight. Last edited by Anteater; 12-20-2008 at 01:28 PM.. Reason: Updated. |
