Front Park Sensors
I noticed today at Home Depot that my front park sensors did not pick up a shopping cart. I was testing the system and sure enough I nudged the cart and still no alarm. When I put the car in reverse the front sensor went off showing the cart. Is it necessary to push the park assist button to activate the front sensors? Thank you in advance for all your help.

There is no way to turn the front on automatically as the car cannot tell parking from stopping behind a car at a light.

You are exactly right !! I just came from a Touareg and the front sensors were always on. They had the cool light bar on the top of the dash. It was never a nuisance since I never get close enough to the car ahead of me to set off the audible alarm. I am glad to know there is nothing wrong with the car, however, what good is park assist if its NOT ON !! |

+1 I wouldn't want it on all the time either, coming on when I'm parking is just fine.

I think one thing BMW could do to improve PDC is make the on/off available as an option on one of the programable steeering wheel buttons.

I agree with you. The Park Assist annoys me enough as it is everytime I put the car in reverse. I wish I could just disable it. Anyone know if this is possible perhaps by pulling a fuse?

I think the Touareg system will leds on the dash is good, when switching lanes instantly when driving bumper to bumper, come on these are only small leds not 70's disco stroboscopes. .it saves you the extra stress not to scratch your bumper (and of the car ahead) when switching lanes. . .when your eyes are exhausted from over-driving or it's not you driving, but your wife or mistress.
