Performance One: BMW / MINI intake valve cleaning

BMW / MINI intake valve carbon buildup

The BMW and MINI direct injected engines are great at producing power while maintaining fuel economy. There are some extra maintenance steps required for engine longevity and performance. Since fuel is injected directly into the cylinder, there is nothing to “clean” the carbon build-up off of the intake valves. This carbon build-up can decrease performance by restricting air flow to the cylinders, and can adversely affect fuel economy. This must be manually cleaned as needed, or roughly every 50,000 – 80,000 kms using a walnut shell blast-cleaning process. Not all BMW and MINI engines are direct injection nor are they all affected by this issue. This is most common on the N54, N55 & N14B16C engines. These are found in the BMW E9x 335i, BMW E8x 135i, BMW E6x 535i, BMW F25 X3 3.5, all BMW E70/E71 X5/X6 3.5, MINI R5x Cooper S, JCW and most future models.

Contact us for more information or an estimate on valve cleaning for your BMW or MINI with direct injection.
