Buying car from private seller

How to i make sure everything is legit? i mean title wise etc..

I will inspect the car but i need to know about the paperwork side of things..

How about you pop down to the DMV mate?

make sure he is the owner by matching the names on title and ID. Sign over the title in front of a notary. They will check to make sure everyone is who they are.
