E70 50i tune options

Hi all- (2011 E70 50i)

I'm sure this has been covered to an exhaustive level. but I thought I'd avoid digging through old post and get a fresh one going.

I come for an E90 335i and the tuning options were great. I'd like to know what choices I have for the ol' X5. I came a cross a guy by the name of Surgey Birioukov on a N63 Facebook group who claims to perform a DME tune that nets around 100 whp. I have not followed up with him for details but thought I'd see if anyone on hear has experience with his "tune".

I'm not looking to build a monster...just wanting to add some HP knowing that there is a fair amount left on the table from the factory.

Dinan. If you are looking for a safe reliable tune, go with dinan.

I have it on my X5M, it definitely gives power and i have some comfort knowing the company backstop is strong and it was installed at an authorized BMW Dealer.

Some will push for harder tunes, but these cars are older now and reliability is scary

Thanks...I just can't justify paying the Dinan premium for a car that is 7 years old and close to 100k miles.
With a new car it makes sense for warranty purposes.

I had an ESS tune on my 5.0i for a year before trading it in. Zero issues for the 12-15k miles I added from ~38-53k. For about $1k, it was an awesome improvement. Can't speak to long term reliability though.

It's 900 bucks. That's what I paid installed at park ave BMW in NJ

Oh...that's much less than I thought. I was thinking it was closer to the $2k mark. I'll check with my local dealer.

I have the JBS Stage 1 Tuner for my X5 and it's definitely been a great investment with noticeable acceleration and power. I believe it was around $400. I've heard great things about the Stage 2 but that puts you up into the $900 range.
