possible burned headlight bowl?

Hi:

I have a 2012 X5 35d E70 LCI model. Recently I noticed weird light pattern coming out of my headlight.

This is my car parked about 5 feet (?) away from a vertical wall in an underground parking garage. Notice the two dark spots right in front of each bulbs, right below the hot spots.

When backing up my car further away from the wall (maybe) 30 feet, I don't see any dark spots:

Showing the pictures to some of my friends, as well as on another online forum, the consensus is that the bowl (?) in my headlight housing is most likely burned.

I took my car into the dealership yesterday. The service manager called out 3 other X5s from 2012 and 2013 model years and all of them displayed the same pattern / "issue".

Can someone from this forum shed opinions on my situation? Are my headlight really burned?
