I wish all BMW's were built in Germany. Those dang Germans are very detail oriented.

that's just stereotyping , I've been buying BMWs since 1973 when I purchased my first in Germany and transported it back to the states. It was a 73 Bavaria ( 5 series predecessor) and the first year while I was in Germany it had to go back for repairs 4 times.

Over the years there has been some that didn't need anything then there were others that seemed like they were from hell, up until recently they all came from Germany.

It's not the people that build the cars but the process that they are built under. Most manufacturers these days source most of their parts from third party, it is that QC process that breaks down long before anyone has put anything together.

overlooked

But it still pisses me to high hell that I spent over $72,000 for a car with overlooked flaws that could and should have been caught!

Are these flaws also on the M versions? I wonder, since it's closer to 100k.

Agree quality assurance on most products sucks these days, most companies are run by bean counters that use the actuarial approach to determine how much effort to put into product quality.

windshield

Just had my windshield replaced by BMW. I had some strange white smudges in between the 2 pieces of glass that looked terrible under certain lighting and background conditions. BMW doesn't make the glass but someone along the way should look at 'em! 1.5 days in shop, not a huge inconvienience....

Is ur time worth anything?

Apparently BMW does not think it's worth a sh!t.
Everytime u have to take it in for extraordinary repair service, that should have been done right @ the factory, the booking, drop off, pick up or even if they have valet pick up & drop off ( if u trust the valet service to drive ur car w/o putting a ding somewhere, or hitting a bad manhole cover along the way to put out ur alignment), is a waste of time.
