Safer and just as fun is to simply run away from them. Makes it known that it was pointless to try. I had a similar lane merge but without the hill. My 2002 M5 was challenged by all types of Camry's and minivans believe it or not. While they crept and crept ahead trying to get the jump, I just laid back and punched it on green. I'd be ahead before across the intersection and 100+ yards ahead by the merge.

You do what you want but IMO driving in a way that jeopardizes safety for you and/or others is not very smart. You should know better.
