528i DBC and Start Off Malfunction lights !

Hi

I have a 2008 528i with about 114k miles on it.

Recently had the following warning messages appear, with no specific pattern as to when they appear.

My local dealership changed a brake light switch and stated problem was fixed. 2hrs & $300 down after collection lights came back on..

Here is the kicker....when you stop the car and turn off the ignition and restart the faults dissappear, for a while....the dealer ship says they cant "read any codes" from the car so it seems to them to be no issue..

very frustrating at this point... any help MUCH appreciated... Thankyou

Not that this helps - but I just got the "Start Off Malfunction" light today for the very first time... don't think I've had the DBC malfunction light (yet).

My car: 2008 550i, 85K miles. Have had virtually no problems with it, it is my DD to/from work. It happened after driving about 10 mins this afternoon, as I was pulling into a parking lot. After 30-45 mins being parked & shut off, I came out and it reappeared immediately.

I have the amber triangle inside the circle arrow, plus an amber "BRAKE" illuminated in the instrument cluster while driving.

Not sure I want to bring it in yet to BMW to shell out $$ for something that may not be a big deal... but also hoped to keep the car another 6-12 months perhaps.

So an update: on my car, not getting the DBC malfunction, just the startoff assistance inactive. Took to a reputable (IMO) import car maintenance place - they do lots of BMWs & MBs. They read the codes, reported a "5EBA" for malfunctioning steering angle sensor. They said they performed a "function test" with intermittent or faulty results. So I'm buying a new steering angle sensor for $500-600, then will pay some labor on top of that to get it installed, recalibrate the suspension / zero angle.

Repair guy says this is pretty common on older BMWs, he even had an old broken steering sensor on his desk to show me.

Anyone else seen this or have similar stories?
