OEM tire recommendations?
I have maybe 2000-3000 miles left on the tires that came on my X6 50i (Dunlop SportMaxx RF's) and was wondering if anybody could recommend replacements. More runflats or conventionals? I live in temperate (read: semi-tropical) Houston, so there's no need for winter/all-seasons. Also the old Dunlops seem kinda noisy. I've got the 20" rims. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! -ad |

Those are the one's that came with my car, already 13000 Kms on them driven hard and they look pretty well, probably they have more than 60% of the thread, great handling, and great on rain ( believe me, we have 9 months of rain per year in Costa Rica)

New RFT"s have improved ride
I like the safety/convenience of RFT's as i've experienced tire pressure loss on a busy highway with conventional tires & on more than 1 occasion i've discovered nails in my tire on a friday evening. & I hate to mess around w/ spare in the winter here in the Pac.NW. w/ snow & rain.
If u don't notice a flat soon enuf w/ conventional tires, u've to mess w/ dismounting a 40lb tire plus the weight of a 19-21 inch rim, covered with brake dust & better hope your trunk is not packed w/ stuff & pray that it's not raining. Of course u can wait for roadside assistance & finally put the dvd entertainment system thru the paces. Check out the Bridgestone/Pirelli/ Conti website & let us know how u do. |
