Anyone else has issues with bluetooth and iphone?

This is my daughters 2012 X5. Last I had the car was back in the summer, and bluetooth was working just fine. Then there was some iOS updates, and even my X6M and M2 were having sync problems, which were resolved with iOS updates, but the X5 has a lot of static during phone calls, and recent calls do not sync properly. Anyone else with this issue?

Was the passenger airbag replaced? Sometimes they forget to plug back in the bluetooth antenna.

If you have the combox (bluetoooth for music and phone) check for an update here https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html

Yes, it was replaced, but it was working fine after. How do I check where the antenna plugs in?

I've also got a 2012 X5 35i and my iPhone XR works just fine with the Bluetooth feature.

Yes, I’m having Bluetooth issues on both the X5M and 335is as of recent. The only change was purchasing iPhone 11s... terrible connections, tons of static, etc. That BMW update is for iOS 5... were well onto iOS 13!

I tested bluetooth audio, and it works fine, but phone calls are horrible. I guess this is BMW's way of "nudging" you into newer models.

I am pretty sure this is Apple issue, and not BMW issue.

When iOS 13 first came out, I had issued with all three of my cars - 2012 X5, 2017 X6M and 2018 M2. Contact list would not sync fully, recent calls would not sync, text messages would not sync. With 13.2.x they fixed the issue with the other two cars. In the X5 however the contact list finally syncs completely, but recent calls and text messages are a mess, and bluetooth phonecalls have a lot of horrible static.

I had a iPhone 7 and all was well while on a call. Switched to a 11 and now I get static on calls but Bluetooth music is fine.

The headunit does not have bluetooth functionality in it. BT is from either a combox or TCU in the hatch. Remove the cover on the rear side of the hatch and take a picture to post if you want more details.

To access the bluetooth antenna, open the arm rest and pry up on the edge of the cover around the shifter. Remove the shifter plate assembly and you can now see down to where the antenna is.
