I found where to purchase the FSC. Now all I need are the maps on a USB. How can I get the 2013 map update on USB? Anyone selling?

Ok, so I found the FSC code and I downloaded the torrent containing the 2013 update, but I'm stuck there.

There are numerous files and I'm not sure in what format to copy them over to a flash drive so that my car will recognize them. There is a folder named pkgdb which contains all the files (about 37 files), and there is a file named config.nfm. When I open the pkgdb folder, I can see all the files, but I don't know in what format to structure the files in a flash drive. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance

As far as the FSC code, I found someone that sells it who is recommended on several of the other BMW sites. He's asking 50 euro ($67 at today's rate) for the code.

The FSC code is unique to a vehicle, so it cannot be used on a different vehicle, but the flash drive containing the files isn't. It can be reused. Anyone care to sell theirs? I'm asking because I have to order a $19 flash drive (32gb) for the files anyway.

Yes, I agree. The last two times I drove back to D.C. from New York it had me get off the freeway, pay a toll and get right back on. Plus it's slow as crap when giving the next direction so when I tried to go to Connecticut from NYC I ended up crossing the George Washington bridge over to New Jersey. Had to pay the ridiculous toll to get back on track.

My previous Infinities had awesome navigation systems. However, this is what I'm stuck with until I decide to sell the car or give in and attach a decent system to my windshield.

Now back to the subject... can anyone here assist with my question?

That was easy. I got my FSC code and have the maps downloaded. Just waiting for Amazon to deliver my USB flash drive. So my total expense for upgrading my maps to 2013 is only $86. Screw you, stealer!

Just reporting that I completed my update to 2013 Premium version of maps. The total cost was 50 euro for the FSC (about $67) and $18.99 for a 32GB flash drive I ordered from Amazon.com. Took a good 30 or 40 minutes to transfer the files from my computer to the flash drive and another 45 minutes to install the update. The map download by torrent took about an hour or less.

Definitely worth it considering BMW of Alexandria wanted over $600 to do it. They're such idiots.

BTW, if anyone in the local area wants to update their maps, PM me and I'll give you a hand with it. I've got the maps already. All you need is your FSC and I can help you get that for around $70.

Pics!

Forgot to get the first one where the system requests the activation code (FSC).

The maps update only updates the base maps, not any of the iDrive features/functions.

Few years ago, I posted an ad in classifieds and a guy in the US mailed me a burned DVD copy for $20 which worked perfectly! I guess this wouldn't work with the new USB versions...?

Great info Rios0311! Do you see any benefit in updating from 2012 maps to 2013?

I don't know about 2012 tp 2013 because my previous version was 2009. I haven't knowingly driven around any area that the old maps didn't already have data for, so I haven't noticed any difference yet. I did manage to finally get my screen into night mode and show buildings in the city, but I don't think the update had anything to do with that.
