Havent seen this guy on here in a while^. Yea using it too much does cause stress on certain components of the car (rotors and brakes especially). That said there are guys who launch the shit out of them on here just fine. I remember Jimshorts saying he used it almost every time he drove the truck. I use it whenever I REALLY need to whoop on someone haha (in the summer that can be multiple times in a night lol). They are made to be launched so try it out if you haven't

How ya been momo. I see you've been busy with your beast. I love the mods!!!
Ive always raced my truck hard and often. I would say I've easily used L/C over 200 times. Whenever I let someone drive my truck that is the first thing I let them do. Only time I ever had issues was at the track and my tires were completely cover in VHC. I was literally doing 4 wheel burnouts and the truck would bog hard.

Whenever I've tried LC it sticks in 1st gear. I'll get the checkered flag, let off the brake and the RPMs reach the yellow instantly but it hangs, never shifting. Dunno if the Velos tune is somehow involved or what.

I always go t/c completely off, edc off, manually shift into 1st and bam shot out of a rocket. If you are manually shifting the car rip 2nd gear once you hit 20mph especially with a tune.

but not during LC I was cruising on fwy I switched into M mode plus D/S and I floor the gas try to enjoy the hard pull, however tranny just won't shift up, rev'ed all the way up. I manually shifted up, and returned back to normal driving, nothing happened afterward. Haven't ask Omar yet since it's not a symptom which always reproduce, probably only under certain RPM/speed/... combination. Still I hope it's solvable. |

Not yet, had the car at the dealer for a few things, but the tune was reset so I can't test it now. Having to send new file to Velos for them to tune next week.

Can someone point me to a manual reference on LC? I don't see anything in the manual. Perhaps there is a supplement I'm missing for the M? Car is new to me. Thx

One quick question, in the manual It says says to put in manual first gear but at the end it says it will still shift automatically is this true even though you're in manual one it will still shift automatically? Can someone who has done this - put the steps in layman's terms as I've never done this before and don't want to damage anything
Thanks,,, |

Perfect. Thanks! The various electronic functions a little confusing for a new BMW and M owner. I see launch control availability may be automatically limited for a period of time after a launch. I plan to use it often!

Check your M mode settings, you want everything in full attack. traction set to MDM or off completely (keep it in MDM if you havent launched before) Then at a stop put M mode on, move your shifter over and put it in first gear. Left foot on the brake firmly, then floor the gas pedal ALL THE WAY (by all the way you should feel a little click at the end, its important you floor it all the way and hold it there until the rpm's go up and you see the checkered flag show up on you HUD or in between your gauges). When you see the flag and it say launch control, side step off the brake and make sure you keep the pedal floored all the way It will automatically upshift for you in manual mode when you use launch control, just hang on and let it do its magic!

No problem man, you're going to have some fun haha. Its about the same with MDM and full off, only difference is MDM will save you incase it breaks the tires loose and you find your self going sideways LOL. You can get all four wheels to break loose pretty easily with it fully off though, these things are MONSTERS!

I tried first but couldn't make it work. No I see why, I need to floor it all the way. Will try again these weekend. I'm on stock 20" 299M. If I set the traction to OFF will it loose traction? Thinking there're 315 in the rear it should be hard to do a burnout.? |
