Navigation/map question

Hoping some of you can help me out on this.

On previous cars we've owned (several Acuras, Landcruiser, Cadillac CTS), if you have the map on (not in guidance mode) you would have the name of the street displaying at the bottom of the screen.

Occasionally depending on the orientation of the map you might see the street display on the screen, but I'm talking about it always being visible.

I read the entire manual, but still couldn't find any way to get the name of the current road to display.

It's really bugging my wife, so any help here would be much appreciated.

There's no way to do it that I know of...the BMW Nav screen looks nice, but doesn't do very well as a navigational tool.

You can see in the pic here where it was trying to get me to u-turn through the traffic circle and go around a lake for 9 miles, where it pretty obvious that if I continue straight I will get where I am going in less than 2.

That's unfortunate. It's funny the little things she lets bug her. Part of it is also that she drove her previous Landcruiser for 9 years and got real comfortable with it.

Let's just say that she's not always good with change.

I just turn the controller wheel and zoom in to 800 ft.
It doesn't put the next street at the bottom, but it will show you the next street coming up as it's coming up.
Hope this helps.

My wife also doesn't care for the BMW nav, even with updated maps. She prefers her old magellan GPS or Apple maps or google maps.

I have to admit that I do like the street name youre traveling on as a handy design element, rather than having to zoom in each time. Though at the very least, my car defaults to the zoom function using the iDrive system. So it's just a quick turn of the dial. But still a manual function.
