Engine Malfunction

Hey guys, I started another thread about creaking noises coming from the trunk area, but I thought this deserved a new thread.

My 2013 X5 35i has gone into limp mode 3 times now. Brought it to the dealer after the first time, they performed a transmission software update, and was told it would not happen again. That was a few months ago. Well last week it happened again and just got the car back today. I was told a 'glitch' occurred that would not happen again. After I got home I went to run errands and it went into limp mode again.

I can't get the car in tomorrow, so it'll probably be Wednesday. I really just needed to vent about this. I love BMW and have had various 3 series and 5 series models since 1998. I love my X5 too, but the annoying creaking issues and these limp mode problems are pushing me away as it seems BMW quality is getting worse lately.

Limp mode again today and then a check engine light. I borrowed a scan tool from a friend and there were 5 codes.

P0300B - random multiple misfire detected
P0301B - cylinder 1 misfire
P0303 - cylinder 3 misfire
P0304B - cylinder 4 misfire
P0305B - cylinder 5 misfire

I will be taking the car in tomorrow.

I too have had several BMWs over the years. I currently have a 2013 X5 3.5 that is 2 months old and has 1700 miles. During the cold weather at the beginning of January, i returned from a trip, started the X5 at the airport, it ran for 2 seconds and died. Would not crank much less start. But I had full battery power.

Well after 10 days of sitting at the airport and having Roadside Assistance figure out how to get it towed to my dealer, I was told that BMW has authorized a complete replacement of the engine.

Crazy stuff for a brand new car.
