Questions about 20" wheels
Just got an '08 X5 3.0 SI. It came with the sport package 5 spoke 19" wheels but I like the aggressive concave look of some of the black 20" Y spoke design replica wheels I've seen FS on eBay & other sites.
I'm aware of the potential extra weight & lack of strength that replica wheels suffer from so it looks like I'm going to have to stick to OE BMW wheels in order to avoid this. Any drawbacks aside firm a harsher ride & extra weight for 20" wheels & opinions on replica X5 wheels? Thanks. |

Our diesel with replicas, no issues. I haven't noticed the harsher ride since the OEM 18" had run flats and my 20" are non-run flat. I can't say I noticed the extra weight either. In my opinion the 20" looks are worth any trade offs.

Thanks SL V35. Did you get them on eBay & how do you like 'em so far? Did you get a chance to weight them vs the stock ones? Good looking oil burner BTW.
TIA. |

Thank you. I got them off of a local Craig's list style site. I haven't weighed them, they are 9.5/10.5 so a little skinnier than OEM so I wouldn't doubt they are similar weights. I have my winter tires on them now so I think I will get another set for my summer wheels. I wanted black wheels so to buy OEM and get them coated/painted is $400ish so I just went with replicas already in black. I have been happy with them.

OEM wheels are just cast wheels anyway, so I doubt there is much of a weight difference.

Maybe because they are often 0.5" narrower than OEM
