Quality in daylight is actually quite good enough - and as long as there is some ambient light it works well enough at night too. Cheers, Anteater Last edited by Anteater; 08-10-2008 at 01:16 PM.. |

I too have this problem. Sometimes the system loads instantaneously, sometimes it takes 30 seconds. This to me is not a huge issue. The quality of the camera during day is fine. Its not the best quality, but it is good enough. The problem is there is no light. So at night if there is no light source, the image is black. Why BMW overlooked this doesn't make any sense to me.

Have to disagree with you on this Chuck, I put aftermarket camera in my X5 , it wasn't infrared but it had very good quality at night with just the backup lights from the X5. I can live with the X6 camera if it would just turn on immediately when I put it in reverse as the one in my X5 did (it was triggered by a relay connected to reverse lights). I think BMW can do a lot better than they have done here, hopefully this will be a idrive update sometime in the not to distant future.
