Parking Attendant Curbed Wheel!

I went out last night in Manhattan, and when I went to pick up my car, the attendant curbed my wheel while trying to squeeze between the curb and another car. I witnessed the whole thing. He was about to curb another one of my wheels until I yelled at him to stop. I filled out an incident report, and I am wondering if they will attempt to repair the wheel or pay for a replacement. the car is only 2 months old and I would prefer a new wheel. Any thoughts?

I suspect they will attempt to repair it...... may depend on whether there are any other scuffs on the other wheels as to how hard you can push them for a replacement! My experience with valet parking guys is that they will do anything they can to avoid taking responsibility. Good luck - and let us know how you get on.

They are liable, a new wheel is the least they could do INSIST on it. Don't let these wa*kers touch your car again, no one drives mine but me or the wife and service dept at BMW.

That can easily be resurfaced and repaired and you will never know. I had a small scratch on wheel when car was delivered and two days after taking delivery I curbed one of my wheels just like in your picture and the dealer resurfaced my wheel and it looks brand new. You have to be careful with these wheels and tires because there is not much cushion and wheels curb easily. At least my dealer has a guy that can resurface them for $75/wheel which is not too bad.

After a lot of bad experiences with valet parking I never let them near my car. If I go somewhere and they only have valet parking I tell I'm leaving unless I can park my car and take the keys. Good to know the scuffs can be fixed , I've
put a small one on my right rear, it's true it's easy to scuff these.

thanks for the encouragement. I know that it can be repaired, but since I didn't do the damage and the car is only 2 months old, I want a new wheel. I will contact them tomorrow to see what they want to do.

Take it from me repaired wheels don't st unless a really good company does the work, these "Mobile wheel referbs" DON'T last.

I hate to see this situations happen. .I can bear the damage that I do it myself, but not when others do it. .to my car.

Maybe some side parking sensors might be needed some day (BMW hopefully will read this topic too). Now that I read this topic I imagine what I'll have to cope with, when I'll try to park mine in tight spots like Mall's underground parkings. .hmmz.

Hey, the side mirrors also rotate vertically!! There was this option (manually) on older 4x4's, to look into the mirrors where's your rear wheel foot printing (practical idea when stepping on boulders, into ditches, or near ravines)

On topic:

That moron forgot that longer vehicles need to make a larger arch to get into the parking spot. By the way it looks in the picture, he tried to park it like a Mini Cooper. .zang just take a 45 degree angle and stuff it there. I hope your full insurance will cover the replacement of the rim. And be convinced that the managers of the dude, will fire him soon, if he repeats that. . he will become a liability for the establishment.

Now, I wonder, Active Drive is useful in this situations. . .but still too expensive. Uhmm. . .
