X6 ActiveHybrid Pricing Announced

I saw this press release regarding availability and pricing for the X6 ActiveHybrid, and figured I'd pass it along. What a bargain for the holidays. There's no way I'd buy one without driving it first to see the performance!

This will be a low volume "halo" hybrid vehicle. Expect the 7 Series and 5 Series mild hybrids to be better sellers.

I want to see the first nitwit on this forum to pick one of these up. The idea of saying performance and economy in the same breath is just silly talk.

I am sorry... I do not like the Lexus brand or care much about the people who own one. They are just cars built for seniles with rheumatoid arthritis. I tell you what though, when I can no longer enjoy a 'real' automobile, I will walk into a Lexus dealership

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. For me, the lexus LS 600h is a better car. I ain't gonna pay $90k for this behemoth, but maybe the 5-series or 7-series hybrid. Mating a hybrid drive to a V8 fuel hog in a 3-ton crossover to gain perhaps 19 - 20 mpg makes no sense.

I love my BMW's..but they are really pricing themselves out of the market..it's starting to like you gotta be a wall street banker or a superstar to afford on..a 328 is almost 50,000 with full options..come on man get real

I wonder how long it will take to break even.
Sorry BMW, I don't see the point in this exercise, I would rather take a diesel over this based on the pricing.

I am not promoting this ESSYOUVEE. IMHO hybrids are a joke. If you really want to save the planet, buy a diesel. Decent performance that translate into savings at the gas station. Cant go wrong there. I hope we see a lot more diesels in the near future.

That's ridiculous!! I looked up the prices too, and noticed it was higher than X6M, but it didn't click until I read your post haha.

I guess there is one thing for us to take into consideration: This offers slightly more power than the X6 xDrive50i, slightly better fuel economy, and slew of standard options that are options on the X6 xDrive50i. How much would adding those options bring the price of a X6 xDrive50i to? I'm guessing it wouldn't be TOOO far from the price of a X6 AH.

EDIT: I just built a X6 xDrive50i with all the standard features of the X6 AH, and it came to $81,xxx. So for $8,000, you get slightly more power, slightly better fuel economy, and one more gear.... Oh, and you get to say you have a hybrid car.

I wouldn't do it, but I personally know some people that would. In fact, I know two people who already put pre-orders on them.

Don't disagree with you there. Unfortunately, many Americans still can't pull their heads out of the sandbox and get over the old notion about diesel being smelly and dirty, BMW and Mercedes can't just stand by watching Toyota monopolyzing the growing luxury hybrid segment. They have no choice but to jump on the bandwagon with these cars. I hope sometime during the next 3-series's life cycle, BMW would pull a surprise magic trick out of the hat and offers a diesel/hybrid version (perhaps a 320d AH). That would be the ultimate driving hybrid.

I just bought a well optioned X5 35d for $54k; it gets 26+ mpg on the highway as advertised with excellent power delivery. Save the money, buy an X5 35d for you and a Z4 35i for your wife for just a little more money than one of these new X6 Hybrids; that is what I did.

You sir, are a very smart man. BTW what is the availability of diesel fuel? Is it easy to come by in remote areas? Maybe in Texas and the south it may be a different story, since a lot of heavy duty pickups are diesel (as far as I know)

Again, Hybrids have proven to be the most successful sales campaign of a MOST useless product of this century. People should in fact be more educated about the the manufacturing process of these hybrids. For instance these batteries themselves require mining of some of the rarest minerals known to man the world over. That is an expensive and VERY POLLUTING process. Then you have the recycling of these aforementioned batteries which is in a very nascent phase... again very polluting. At least these german hybrids use a lot of recyclable parts.
