Recommendations for replacement OEM tires

Time to replace the oem tires. Anyone have any recommendations of alternatives to the michelin product? The x5 has the OEM 19" wheels on it.
Thanks for all the help

I recently changed my oem tires as well. I only have about 1000 miles on my new tires but they have really been great. I went with the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flats. They have been great so far and I noticed improved handling and stopping in the rain.

Run flats are piece of mind, since a spare is often an option, and not included in most cars.

If you want piece of mind, there is that. If you care for performance, and options, there are plenty of non-run-flat options, and are often lower in cost too, usually around $200/tire.

I switched to Continental Extremecontact DWS. I have a spare on my X5d.
Lot less noisy than RFTs. Like them a lot. I've put them on all my cars & no regrets.

I bought a spare for long trips and just had a set of Continental Extremecontact DWS put on a couple weeks ago. I ran those on my old E46 and they were great, and so far I love them on the X5. (have the sport pkg with 20"s). Living in OH, I need a tire that actually has some traction so with the limited options for 20"s, it was an easy decision. They are also much quieter than the Michelin Latitudes I just replaced.

AWD - eats tires

The problem with AWD is that it eats tires. You will never get a set of tires to last as long as they should when you have AWD. With that said, purchasing a warranty on the tires where they give you a credit on your next set of tires because the tire did not last as long as it should have would be an excellent move. For example, I had Continental Extreme DWS on my X5. There were rated as a 45,000 mile tire. I had them rotated religiously every 6,000 miles. I got 37,000 miles out of the tires. Discount Tire gave me a $200.00 credit towards my new set.

I currently run Goodyear Assurance CS Triple Tread's

Great Tire. They are rated as a 70,000 mile tire. I won't get that, but I plan on getting maybe 60,000 out of them. I just like the idea that I won't be shelling out $800.00 as often with this tire. I think they are just as good as the Continental Extreme DWS's in terms of performance and grip.

For you fellas that say you carry a spare with you on long trips: I have a staggered setup. What kind of spare do you carry with you?

In a staggered setup the overall diameter is the same between front and rear! The spare even if you could fit a 13" wheel, as long as the tire made up for the diameter, it would work.

The OE BMW spare is a great option. Better yet if you can buy it used.
