OEM tire recommendations?

I have maybe 2000-3000 miles left on the tires that came on my X6 50i (Dunlop SportMaxx RF's) and was wondering if anybody could recommend replacements. More runflats or conventionals? I live in temperate (read: semi-tropical) Houston, so there's no need for winter/all-seasons. Also the old Dunlops seem kinda noisy. I've got the 20" rims. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

How many miles on your X6? I have the OEM's at about 17k miles. Looks like I can go to 25-30k miles easy. Since I have a spare, I think I will switch to Michelins non-flats when the time comes. I thought about non-run flat Duelers but board opinion has swayed me.

My mileage is the same, but the tread on the fronts are about down to the minimum. And my SA said these wear out at 17-20k miles. Have yours worn evenly front to back? Guess I could replace the fronts first but that might not be ideal, especially if I decide to go the conventional tire route...or maybe I should try burning some more rubber (isn't more torque transferred to the rears with more acceleration?).

If you could point me to the Dueler discussion I would be grateful!

Thanks,

Those are the one's that came with my car, already 13000 Kms on them driven hard and they look pretty well, probably they have more than 60% of the thread, great handling, and great on rain ( believe me, we have 9 months of rain per year in Costa Rica)

What is the Treadware of your tires, Conti's is 420, pretty decent for such a heavy car

New RFT"s have improved ride

I like the safety/convenience of RFT's as i've experienced tire pressure loss on a busy highway with conventional tires & on more than 1 occasion i've discovered nails in my tire on a friday evening. & I hate to mess around w/ spare in the winter here in the Pac.NW. w/ snow & rain.
If u don't notice a flat soon enuf w/ conventional tires, u've to mess w/ dismounting a 40lb tire plus the weight of a 19-21 inch rim, covered with brake dust & better hope your trunk is not packed w/ stuff & pray that it's not raining.
Of course u can wait for roadside assistance & finally put the dvd entertainment system thru the paces.
Check out the Bridgestone/Pirelli/ Conti website & let us know how u do.

Agree! When tire failure occurs it is always at the worst possible time and place...The option of limping home on a runflat is quite attractive, but I don't know how much of a premium I'm willing to pay for that peace of mind!

240 treadware.......you will "eat" them in 1 year..... today in my opinion for such a heavy car, you can't go lower than 380
