Exclamation Braking by its self!?

I don't know why but since we've owned the car it brakes all by its self from 35 to 30, DTC is on but when it does this the symbol doesn't appear and it does it even if your driving in a straight line motorway/highway. It's never strong braking to where I feel at risk but it does make me think subconsciously, it's an '09 Pre LCI 3.0SD MSport and I just wanted to know if your cars do it or if its a standard feature.

Thanks

What engine do you have? The 3.0L diesel? We don't have a 3SD in North America. Is it engine braking or are the actual brakes being applied? My diesel does sometimes shift down to give the engine braking feel but I have never noticed the actual brakes being applied unless going down a hill with the cruise control on that's the only time I have noticed mine applying the brakes.

It was physically braking by it's self as in the brakes were being applied, I have the 3.0 diesels engine, as I said it's not hard braking but you can feel it just a tad. I just wanted to know if there's a specific reason that it does it or if it's just me

it will brake itself when going down a hill with the cruise on, or when going down the hill without the cruise on if you use your brakes and then let off - it will continue to brake on its own.

I think it is the transmission downshifting to match the speed. It does give the sense of braking

it will definitely do that - should have said reduce speed rather than brake.

Hi guys, just took it out for a drive and paid attention to the gears and it is only down-shifting, I was in the passenger seat when the wife was driving and I instantly thought of DCT, never thought of down-shifting.

Thanks for the help
