2nd to 1st gear to harsh
Hi guys, I’ve noticed In my e70 2013, 69k on the clock the car is too harsh downshifting from 2nd to 1st. I have done a gear box reset if that is even a thing or a myth but nothing has helped..Any one else experienced similar issue?

I would change oil and filter and then reset adaptations again, do the relearn procedure and if still issues next step would be to replace mechatronic seal(s) and then finally solenoids. Mine was really bad until I replaced all of the solenoids and that did the trick. That was about 60K miles ago, now at 186k miles.

Many thanks. I didn’t realise the gearbox has a filter to? But I will get the oils changed for sure as well as the filter. Hopefully that does the trick. I’ve heard that if you do to many resets, it sometimes doesn’t work, I.e it needs to be reset by the diagnostics to wipe it clean? Is that true.

The filter is part of the pan that you are supposed to replace when you change the oil.
My E70 doesn't have the issue you describe, but my wife's 2013 F30 does(same trans). Interestingly enough I think it started after I changed the fluid and pan...or it started immediately before, I can't remember. I took it to the dealer to diagnose the rough 2 to 1 issue and they said it needed a SW update. That seemed to fix the issue for a few months but it has come back. I am going to do another fluid/filter/pan change and replace the mechatronic sleeve and seals. The kit I got is something like this - https://www.thectsc.com/products/sea...h-280-109.html. Hopefully that fixes it...hers only has 120k miles and they haven't been hard miles. Edit: maybe the solenoids would be a good idea in my case as Sophisticated Redneck mentioned. |

Well I checked my fluid level in the F30 and it was at least half a quart low. I didn't follow the proper procedure when I changed the fluid/filter so it didn't have enough fluid. The car needs to be running when doing the final top off - what a pain / dangerous without a lift. After I added that the transmission no longer has the harsh 2 to 1 downshift.
