Can I bother someone to elaborate on Mirob's pics and see if those vacuum lines run into the trunk area? I've got none of the vacuum lines shown in Mirob's pos, I've removed the 4 phillips screws holding down the battery cover and the 3 press clips for a little cup in the LH cubby area in the trunk, but I see nothing :-/ I'm just trying to check this off the list before leaving for Bimmerfest in 3 days.

I'd appreciate it, I bought my truck this way...lines are missing, exhaust flapper valves weren't connected, nor were the valves zip tied open. I work from 2:30pm-11pm, so tonight is perfect.

I've seen that picture, I still don't know where to look though...I just assume an electronic sensor would be plumbed into the truck to keep it away from the elements. Comparing your pics to my truck, I don't have the vacuum lines running left to right, any of the clamps holding the lines to the frame, etc. I just don't know where to look, follow, etc to see where it all ends at. I'm not trying to take this thread off course, but then again this line being plugged or not is relatable to this issue.

So in a random series of events while trying to diagnose this clicking noise coupled with no electric fan once the engine is shutdown -
http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1269318 ...my buddy and I ran across this damaged hose! Looks like I finally found my boost leak Hose has backed off the outlet of the turbo by about 1/8th, then it looks like the hose is a two part piece, one layer has separated and pushed itself out from the clamp itself. Naturally BMW doesn't sell the hose itself, just as an assembly with the charge pipes, so I'll be ordering some silicone tubing instead. Fingers crossed this is the end all be all of my issues!! I'm also hoping this means I'll be finally pushing past 17.4psi since my tuner says I should be pushing the low 20's.

I haven't fixed it yet, just haven't found the time...just got back from Bimmerfest, buying my house and leaving for Cancun on Thursday. I did get silicone hosing from a friend this weekend. I might give the truck to my BMW buddy and let him replace the silicone hose and check what we think is an aux water pump for one of the turbos while I'm out of town. Getting these things done and a video of my intake will be my priority once I return.

I have this same issue. Started immediately after new turbos and valve seal job at dealer. What a coincidence.
Brought it back and they are stated error code indicates cylinder misfires? Will get car tomorrow with fingers crossed. |

Finally got a moment to take apart the X5M to resolve a couple issues. The clicking noise and lack of fan coming on after the engine being shutoff turned out to be a broken impeller on the aux water pump for the turbos.
As for my boost leak, you can see how badly damaged the hose is. Sadly I bought it this way, the clamp was installed wrong and slowly started to pull itself out from the clamp and caused this. All boost hoses are being replaced with higher pressure silicone that I've got ordered. Fingers crossed this resolves my issue and I finally start showing 21+psi boost levels like my tuner has claimed so I can return to the dyno.

Minus the MAF sensor (since the S63 doesn't have one), assume everything replaced on the N63 campaign also needs to be done to our engines since we share many of the same parts as verified on www.realoem.com.

Before I bought it I brought it to local BMW who said there was a small crack in the vacuum hose, so maybe I will preemptively get that taken care of. |

So I finally received and got the chance to install the turbo water pump and silicone hoses...the pump is defective right out of the box and I'm still getting the damn reduced power warning. I'm at my wits end with this damn car. Tuner said he could code out the warning but not the computers ability to reduce the power for whatever in the hell it thinks is an issue.
How can such a simplistic warning come up, cause huge reductions in power, yet no CEL and surely no damn quick fix. Searches for this issue leads to a ton of different replies, so I'm thankful for this thread, but I'm just hoping for the day a CONCRETE answer is finally found for something that escapes us and the stealerships. On a side note, which I'm thinking I shouldn't install yet, but my Aquamist HFS-4 kit is in the mail. Last edited by m5james; 07-29-2016 at 07:33 PM.. |

Well thats great news
I am no closer to solving this on my end either and getting tired of this damn mystery machine. I don't understand why this car throws a reduce power warning and doesn't give it a CEL to diagnose makes no sense whatsoever. I have to replace my power steering pump and reservoir, solve an oil leak somewhere near the oil filter housing ( I think it is a pressure sensor leaking but not entirely sure need to remove the skid plate to investigate better ), replace the bank 1 air intake pipe and refresh my cooling system. While I'm doing this I'm going to replace all vacuum lines and hopefully clear this up ... if not I'm going to start considering selling this money pit of problems. |
