Almost getting into a X5M

Hi,

May have seen my post over on the X6m side as I was initially looking to get that but it turns out that I might actually be getting into a 2012 X5M instead. Like these better cosmetically than the X6M and it is in San Marino Blue which I love. Same as the one on the picture beside XBIMMERS on top. lol

Currently have a 2012 M3 that i will be trading in. I am very close to finishing the deal and have almost done it but have to give a one last yes before everything is processed.

Are there any known issues on this generation? Like the M3 rod bearing issue. Anything I should be worried about? Will I regret doing this? Anyone done a similar thing and what's your opinion?

Thanks guys.

just to let u know the color is Monte Carlo Blue not a San Marino Blue!

There are plenty of posts on the same subject but over all people are very happy with E70 X5M family, u coming from M3 and this could be little tough as far as driving habits.
Also the fuel consumption is very high!
Recent recall covers injectors, so you might want to look in to it!
Warranty is important, I assume you getting CPO?

Good luck and welcome to Xm family!

Thanks for correcting me on the colour. Yes some shade of blue lol. I like it that's the most important thing.
I didn't drive the M3 like I drove my C63. The m3 is fairy tame compared to that in torque section. I drove the X5m and it felt quicker off the line than my M3.
I am not worried about fuel. I guess with vehicles like this fuel is the last thing that's concerning.
I read the injector thing and asked my guy. He said it is up to date as they can't certify it unless everything is up to date.
I purchased additional 2 year 160K certified warranty.

Have a question,

I have a set of 18" BMW OEM rims with winter tires on it that I used on my M3. They are virtually new. I am wondering if these will fit on the X5M for winter time or I will need to get a different set?

What do most people run on their X5M's for winter usage?

Thanks

nope, most 19s would hardly fit, also these cars have a mismatched front and rear hub diameter

Do you run winter tires on yours or don't bother since it has AWD?

You being in Alberta, I'd run some 19s non staggered with a good set of winter tires. It is a good AWD vehicle but the tires will help a lot!

We haven't really even hit summer yet so I don't have to worry about winters for a while. Plus ideally I'd like to sell my other winter set prior to purchasing a new one. But thanks for your offer, I will keep it in mind and look for your add in the marketplace.
