Crankcase Sensor not working work

Hello,

Really need some help here. My 2007 X5 4.8i has been in the shop for a month. They changed the head gasket because it had a extream leak. The oil killed my alternator also and so the car was running almost totally off the battery. So anyways, battery is good, new altenator and new head gasket. Except the crankcase sensor isn't working and can't figure out why.

Couple things the shop thought maybe would help. Relearning the sensor, activating the sensor. reprogramming the control module, replacing the sensor. They don't have the equiptment to do this except replace the sensor. They said they would replace 4 days ago, havn't heard back.

Need some possible reasons this would happen and where to look. Thanks for the input ahead of time.
