Tachometer temp gauge?

Hey guys,

I am new to the group, and new to BMW. So far, I love it. I should have purchased an M a long time ago. This group is great as well, lots of help.
I took a picture of my tachometer. I found very little information on the outside reading and what it actually means. Is it coolant temp and high rpm range as it relates to engine temp? How should I be reading this? Thanks!

It's oil temp. Here is a picture that I grabbed from the quick reference guide for you. If you want a copy of the guide, shoot me your phone number or email and I can send the pdf over. It has some useful settings info and what things are. I had a lot of questions like these when I first bought mine and often referenced the guide for help.

So, there are two engine oil temperature readings? The bottom section and then the color coded one on the right hand side? Interesting, The limiter is an interesting feature. Thank you!

Just amazing though --

Owners manual for break in from 1200-3000 miles: "the Maximum speed should only be used shortly, e.g., to pass another vehicle"

Shit they listed the max speed for that period as 135 MPH LOL
