X6 roof rail removal

Hi, ive searched the net about a million times, i want my roof wrapped in black gloss vinyl but it cant be done with the roof rails on, how do i take the rails off to be able to wrap the roof properly ? i have read somewhere that the big end caps can be prized off but i am a bit nervous in case i break them, i want the rails back on after and believe that there are torx bolts under the caps, does anyone have any ideas how to remove the caps without breaking them, im not sure if they slide or just pull up.

X6 Low profile rail

My apologies for hijacking the post. But has anyone looked into the low profile style of the roof rails for the X6? I would love to have the usability. But I really do not like the look of the E71 rails

*Edit - should look like:

I currently do not have time or motivation to do it myself.. So the box is collecting dust in the garage. Need to look into what it would run to get them installed.

Never thought I'd like the look of roof racks on an X6, but these look good.

BTW, WTF is up with the $hit on the front bumper of the white X6? That induced epileptic shock on me....

Camo vinyl used by manufacturers when they are testing cars on the road that haven't been released to the public yet. It's designed to hide feature details of the car. In this case, most kindly the front fog changes between the e71 and f86.

The rubber base on my X6M rails is crumbling apart. Any way to replace these?
