First Spy Pictures Exclusive : BMW X5 (F15)
First Spy Pictures Exclusive : BMW X5 (F15)
Whilst the hired Bimmerpost photographers fret over what bullshit the Kardashians will do next whilst the rest of us hope that they can be wiped off the face of the earth. The first prototypes of the BMW X5 (F15) has taken to the streets of Munich and the snowy test tracks of Northern Sweden. Although not much to see as everything is in camouflage. The X5 aims for a more dynamic profile which enhances its "Sport Activity Vehicle" credentials along with chiselled a muscular appearence and and sloping roofline. Expect many "X" line features in design on the X5 from both the X3 and X1 including the rising glasshouse and unique interpretation of the hofmeister kick like every other X Vehicle. The front does without a nose cone to allow the hood to sit flush with the grille which becomes larger and wider. The headlights are in a uniquely styled trapezoid shape and connect to the grille , like the 3er and BMWi Concepts. The F15 hopes to continue the X5 trilogy of success enjoyed by the E53 and E70 respectively. Lighter than the current E70, The F15 will be aiming to keep its top sport as the best driving and most road orientated SAV that has been there from the very beginning. Equipped with Powerful engines in both diesel and petrol from six cylinders in both to a petrol eight cylinder , The all powerful X5M will also be replaced as in some markets the X5M/X6M are the best selling M Vehicles. An Active Hybrid variant will be offered too. The F15 X5 will compliment the core "X"family of X3 and X1 at one end. And then with the more Sporting concepts of X2 , X4 and X6 at the other. The F15 X5 and F16 X6 will again be manufactured in Spartanburg , South Carolina, The X5's home of manufacturing.

Incidentally the third row has not been universally requested , although it will continue for variety. Third-Row seats are strictly for children or contortionists.
Huckfeldt predicted the shape of things to come in 2007. When the competition was in flow for the BMW X6. Some designers sought to inspire a typical SAV with a more dynamic roofline inplace of the coupe outline the X6 is today. But as you can see the X5 in the spy photographs inherits a more dynamic looking roofline towards the rear of the car giving it a very sporting profile and matches the X1 and X3 for dynamic intentions and the X Bloodline. The next X5 begins the next look for the X family in regards to the X1 and X3. The Sportier X offerings in Sport Activity Coupe will break with tradition and feature distinctive front ends , the first to appear will be the BMW X4. By 2016. BMW will have 3 Sport Activity Vehicles - X1, X3 and X5. With three alternative Sport Activity Coupes - X2, X4 and X6. The exterior will demonstrate typical X solidity but be more athletic in its sculpture. And whilst every angle of design and creativity requires a progressive period. You can see how things will progress from the original idea.

I am glad the 3rd row will remain. The rumor of an X5L (long wheelbase) is interesting as is an X7 model. I personally would like a more practical option from BMW for transporting 7 people...
I am looking forward to more accurate renders of the new X5 to come. |
