2005 X5 Signal Light with Headlight Washers
My front driver's side turn signal started flashing faster than normal and I just bought a new bulb to change it out. I will be changing both front right and left sides.
Problem is that I have headlight washers in front of the headlamps. (See attached pics) I went on several forums and searched online and only found these two places for instructions on how to change a turn signal light bulb on an X5. 1. http://rides.webshots.com/album/557411419zQyCpU 2. http://www.zander5.com/x5/x5-turn-signal.htm But I could only get to Step 2 because I could not pull out the headlamp far enough to go to Step 3 because of the headlight washers that are in the way. Am I doing something wrong, can I still change it myself? Or do I have to go to the dealer and have them take care of it? Thanks for your help in advance! 2005 X5 3.0 |

I just ran into this myself. You don't have to remove the headlight assembly completely. Just remove the 4 bolts, move it forward as far as it goes, and then worm your hand from the side gap (If your hand is too big, get someone with small hands, child or wife/girlfriend). You may even use a groove joint plier. It's easy to remove the turn signal assembly. It has a pretty easy grip. Just turn it a quarter turn and the bulb assembly comes right out. Replace the bulb in the assembly, and put it back in, turn it until it locks, and push the headlight assembly back and bolt it.
it took me exactly 10 minutes. Hope this helps! |
